Introduction.

Welcome to the web page of Phoenix Microlights. By coming here you have taken the first steps that may change your life!

If you have EVER wanted to fly, or dreamt that you could fly, then microlighting could be for you. Microlight pilots come from all walks of life, you could find that this is the affordable way to fulfill your dream. Not requiring as many hours tuition as light aircraft flying the lower cost of the aircraft and the easier maintenance means that the average working person should be able to afford to learn to fly, buy an aircraft and maintain it!

I began to fly with Phoenix Microlights since June 1999. I had a one hour trial flight elsewhere first. I was sure when I first saw a microlight and certain when I first sat in one that I would not like it, it looked so flimsy and I am terrified of heights! However I knew that if I did not like it we could turn around and land again so I put my fears on hold and tried it. As we taxied to the end of the runway my fears got worse, pre take off checks completed my pilot opened up the throttle and in no time at all we were airborne, my fears disappeared immediately as we flew over fields and hedges below. As the height increased and the view improved I knew that I had found what I had been missing for years and decided that I would take lessons. I found Phoenix Microlights and have not looked back since.

I do not think that my experience is unique, I have since found that many microlight pilots are afraid of heights and I have been present when many people have been for their first trial flight. Almost without exception they are nervous, showing the same concerns that I had. I have spoken to all these people on their return and they all had the same response..BRILLIANT, they all found that it was nothing like they imagined and a few book there and then for another flight.

Booking a trial microlight flight does not commit you to anything long term, if you really don't like it you don't have to go again, more likely you will be so impressed that you will want to join the growing band of people with a permanent grin on their faces.....microlight pilots!
